Here are some packing ideas that should help you with your packing. Always remember movers can move only furniture and boxes. If it's not boxed it may be better if you carry that item over in your vehicle. Remember - "A truck rides like a truck". Meaning that all items should be properly packaged for the move. Do not try to cut corners in this department. Use bubble wrap, peanuts, and wrapping paper to properly insure the contents safety. Pack the items within the box to withstand a drop from at least 10 feet. Not that this should ever happen, but the whole reason for packing an item is for containment and security. Security against a fall. All boxes packed by anyone other that the moving company is identified as P.B.O. (packed by owner) therefore the contents of these boxes are the responsibility of the owner.
All glass shelves needs to be removed and card boarded up for the move.
All marble has to be card boarded up for the move.
Disconnect water outlets from washing machines and refrigerators.
Hanging clothes should be placed in wardrobe boxes. (Roughly a box for each arm full)
Packing seems to run more efficient if you concentrate on one room at a time.
If loading a rental truck, have plenty of blankets to cover your furniture. Blankets are the key to a good move.
Moving on a rainy day? You make the call! There's no such thing as rain equipment.
These are but a few tips. If you have any other packing questions call us at 757.464.MOVE. If we don't hear from you we have to believe you have everything under control. Good Luck and be patient.
